RAnger Team
1-6
This
web site is dedicated to the memories of a fallen Brother and his
Ranger Team. They were
members of Papa Co. Rangers 75th Infantry. This
team was also known as, "Killer Team 1-6" - "Dowd's
Dirty Half Dozen". Ranger
Team 1-6 operated out of Quang-Tri
Province , South
Vietnam in 1969.
On
Sunday, December 21, 1969, Ranger Team 1-6 was heading out on what
they all believed to be just another routine mission, when their
chopper came under heavy enemy fire.
The helicopter crashed and all members of Ranger Team 1-6
were killed with the exception of one.
The only other person to survivor from the Helicopter Crew
that day was crew chief Mike Amos.
The
lone survivor from Ranger Team 1-6 that day was Larry Smith.
Larry is quite a remarkable man, and he often wondered
why he did not die with his team.
Well, I thank God for sparing your life that day.
Larry, you are truly an instrumental part of my life, and
you fill the voids with memories of a brother to whom I only
vaguely remember.
I
was only 11 years old when I lost my brother, and my memories of
him are few. With
that, I want to express my special gratitude to Larry Smith for
helping me fill those voids. Your
kind and gentle spirit allows me to believe there is good in this
world. You’re an
inspiration Larry, and you afford me the opportunity to know my
Brother through your shared memories of him with me.
Thanks "REB"
I
would also like to express my gratitude to Terry Roderick, for
answering my initial e-mail that I sent him.
And, for putting me in touch with all of the other Rangers
who had served with or knew my Brother.
I thank you very much for responding to my e-mails
that I left on the 75th Rangers Associations Web Site.
Last but not least, I would like to extend a
heartfelt thanks to all of the Rangers out there, who have shared
their pictures and special stories about my Brother and his Team
with me. Just to name
a few:

unnoticed. I send my personal "Thanks" to all of
you!
